Urns for Sale: Winter White Collection

January 10, 2017 urngarden.com

elegant white cremation urns for ashes

White shines bright in the garden this month as we spotlight urns with clean classic designs. In some cultures white is the deepest color of mourning as opposed to the Western world’s preference for black.  Most of the urns in this collection are metal and feature elegant shapes and soft shades of white.

The White Pearl urn gives an iridescent glow the contrasts with the reflective silver trim and carved band and looks great engraved with names, dates, or a brief sentiment if desired. This style comes in several different sizes depending on your needs. Throughout history white has symbolized innocence, honesty, good, and perfection. White could also be incorporated into the memorial service with scented white candles with calming fragrances like coconut, vanilla, or baby powder. Winter white flowers to represent a January birth date are the snowdrop and carnation.

One of our most popular styles is the affordable Elegant White cremation urn available in both adult full size and matching mini. This style engraves well and we can the laser to add names, angel wings, dates, or a verse on the large one if desired.

Another family favorite for all the seasons, is the Cardinal Urn. This style pays homage to my grandmother, who is crazy for birds and her motto is: if you love it, put a bird on it! The cardinal urn is snow white with a beautifully hand painted red bird sitting on a dogwood branch. Both the bird and the dogwood have spiritual connotations as well. Pendants in the shape of a dogwood flower are available if you are shopping for cremation jewelry.

The White Heart urn is a medium size with attractive hand tooled details. This style opens from the bottom to store the ashes. This would be for families that are going to divide the cremains, or use for a child or pet and can even be engraved and shows well against a crisp white background.

There are even smaller urns available in mini sizes, many of which match the adult size. Need help sorting it all out?

Record cold day in February

Why is it that on the most bone chilling, record setting cold days that we’ll also have the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets? The same is true after a wicked storm. Several years ago, after the devastating tornado that ravaged Joplin, MO the sky was still dark, but the most awe inspiring double rainbow appeared.

The beauty is there if you seek it out. Maybe the old adage is true, if you rise above the storm you’ll find the sunshine. As the days shorten and darkness comes earlier than ever, we’re always looking for the light and energy. To focus on the beauty during these dark days.

The sunset cremation urn collection focuses on that theme with connections to fishing, hunting, and landscapes in the traditional metal vase shape, all beautiful works of art in their own way. Most of these cremation urns can be engraved and look great with personalization.

One of the most beautiful is the Lake Tahoe Sunset cremation urn. We were so lucky to connect with a Nevada photographer who let us use this image to create an Urn Garden exclusive. His form of payment was that we had to promise to make a donation to one of our favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. We were glad to do it. This gorgeous pink and purple mountain sunset over the lake is breath taking.

Fishing urns pay tribute to those that loved the feisty and fighting nature of sport fishing. There’s nothing like being on the water at as the sun is either rising or setting. And this urn comes in both a metal vase shape or wooden box container.

There’s nothing like a beach sunset and the Purple Siesta Key cremation urn is an attempt to capture that fading light over the ocean. So beautiful and comes in a variety of sizes, from little hearts and keepsakes to a medium size urn for families that want to share or sprinkle some of the ashes.

Spring Themes in Cremation Urns

April 10, 2014 urngarden.com

dogwood flowers

Spring is the season of awakening and rejuvenation. Perennials that were hidden all winter long are making their first appearance; taking in the glorious sunshine and everything else Mother Nature has to offer.

Another promising sign of Spring is the sites and sounds of birds. Cardinals, for instance, are only bring hope and cheer on cold, wintry days, but like the dogwood, reminds people to focus on their faith. A cardinal’s scarlet plumage symbolizes the blood Christ shed as he died on the cross. A cardinal in a dogwood tree is a popular image, and our Cardinal and Dogwood Flower Urn has this exact picture. Not only is the cardinal a favorite mascot here in Missouri (St. Louis Cardinals), it’s the most popular state bird and represents seven states in the USA.

Listening to birds sing on a warm spring morning is another way of feeling not only rejuvenated but comforted as well. If you are hurting, the sounds of a bird’s tweet can be quite healing as well as help feed one’s brain with energy.

Dogwood trees and accompanying blossoms are a fine representation of this season, which is also closely associated with Easter. While the Bible does not mention dogwoods by name, they are tied to Jesus’ crucifixion, as this type of tree was said to have been used to make His cross. But from that day forward, God commanded that this once grandeur tree would never grow tall again, but always be twisted and short and never used for this purpose.

Its clustered fruit blossoms resemble Jesus’ crown of thorns and are said to be formed in the shape of a cross with two short and two long petals. Each petal’s outer edge are “nail prints” that are brown with rust and stained with blood. Everyone who sees this blossom is supposed to remember why Jesus died on the cross. Dogwoods are native from Eastern United States to North-Central Florida and is the state flower for North Carolina and Virginia.

Our goal at Urn Garden is to provide families with comforting memorial choices that are not only easy on the eye, but the pocket book as well. Feel free to call us if you have an idea or question about creating something personal that will reflect the spirit of your loved one.

Spirit Animals: The Horse, Regal and Free Spirited

April 7, 2014 urngarden.com

We’ve been doing a series on spirit animals and exploring the characteristics of various totems. For families that are shopping for a cremation urn that captures the life force of their loved one, consider the horse.

copper raku cremation urn for ashes

A customer who ordered this urn wanted a vessel that looked good in the home and would preserve a small amount of the ashes of her father. She had several Jewish friends that often visited and she preferred something that didn’t scream urn. The horse style was exactly what she was looking for.

Horses are the one symbol or totem that will carry a person through life. Horses show strong motivation, passion, personal drive and the quest for freedom. Besides being regal and fierce in competition, horses can also be graceful and confident. Your connection to horses is an amazing gift. They bring the ideals of elegance and presence and offer the energies of endurance and freedom.

Horses were very common in Greek mythology where they captured readers’ imaginations and brought to life the many heroes they protected. Popular horses in Greek mythology include Pegasus, the unicorn, Hippogriff, Kelpies, Widow Maker and Sleipnir. In Chinese mythology, horses were related to dragons, but still were examples of power and virtue. They are true symbols of free spirits and intelligence.

The Dark Side
Horse spirit animals do have a bit of a dark side, though. For instance, if your horse totem is tied up or locked in a stable where it cannot move easily, you are more than likely to have limitations placed on your own life. You may be prevented from being free because of all the added responsibilities you have taken on.

Dreaming of Horses
As a symbol of sexuality, according to Sigmund Freud, horses can appear very vividly in one’s dreams. Depending on the dream, horses can symbolize flourishing or repressed sexual energy. Dreaming of black horses could represent a part of yourself or personality that you want to keep hidden. White horses are associated with elevated moods and spiritual aspirations. If you see a horseshoe in one of your dreams, know that those are considered lucky charms in many cultures. Talking horses can mean that your unconscious may be trying to send you a message.
