Memorial Service Idea at the Cemetery

May 30, 2011 urngarden.com

One of our clients traveled from Missouri to New Mexico to inter her brother who passed away last year. She’s from a big Irish family, 10 kids in all, and they coordinated a memorial service to be held over the long holiday weekend. He had been cremated and they planned to place his ashes in a niche at the cemetery in a wood urn.

Her brother was a poet, an earthy guy who liked to draw pictures of trees. At the memorial service they set up a small table and displayed his poetry, drawings, memorial cards, and an arrangement of a tree and potted shamrocks. A very simple service, a friend read a poem, family said a few words, they dismissed for lunch.

A memorial service can always be held at a later date and does not have to be an elaborate affair.

Remembrance Ribbon Urn for Ashes

March 28, 2011 urngarden.com

The ribbon has been a timeless symbol of remembrance and saying goodbye. Before the days of constant status updates and texting, Victorians used ribbon to signify the state of mind.  Naturally, black was used for mourning,  but ship travelers were often sent off with colorful streamers tied between the dock and the boat that would break off and drift into the water as they were departing. Bon-voyage!

We’ve adapted the more modern ribbon design into a memorial jewelry and funeral urns. Our Remembrance Ribbon urn pendant can be worn as a statement to promote awareness of your special cause, or represent the gift of friendship and love.

SILVER SPRINGS, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35)

The victim in the burglary said she returned to her home to discover that several items were missing. Some of the items included electronics and jewelry, but what she found most troubling, was the theft of her late father’s ashes and the ashes of her two Great Danes.

During the investigation, detectives learned that the ashes were taken because the suspects mistook the cremains for either cocaine or heroin. It was soon discovered that the suspects snorted some of the ashes believing they were snorting cocaine.

Golf Urns

We’ve talked with several families that are planning an ash scattering ceremony that centers around a golf theme. Some plan to spread a portion of the ashes on the golf course or have a memorial service at the club house.

For easy scattering, our golf course scattering tube simplifies the process and the urn is completely biodegradable and safe for in-cabin air travel.

On Golden Nest

Griffin or Gryphon

How do you spell “griffin”? As always, when we spot this ancient image, we try to capture it.

This was on a pillar at a local theater downtown.

Griffin
Griffin or Gryphon?

The griffin has a narrow appeal. People with that last name, perhaps. Or, medieval architecture enthusiasts. Which rules out Billy Bob Thornton.

This urn style has been around for awhile, but for the family that does want the ancient symbol of protection we’ve added this bronze urn. Some call it the Sarcophagus. We call it stunning.

This is the only style I’ve ever seen in Urn World with the image of the griffin on it. Price wise, the gryphon urn is not for the family that searching for “cheap urns”. Bronze urns will cost more than $100.00

Our bronze urns use both the lost wax and casting styles. Bronze urns will usually be some of the heaviest, weighing in the range of 25-45 pounds and command the highest price due to the artistry and casting process involved.

May you find gold and sapphires in your nest! If you need further assistance sourcing the perfect memorial please contact us.
