Happy Coffins and Artistic Caskets

September 29, 2010 urngarden.com

happy coffin

This is the ‘Happy Coffin’ designed by Elsie Chua during her stay at a Hospice home in Singapore.

The Lein Foundation says the Happy Coffins project overturns the stigma of death and converts the coffin from a symbol of fear, dread and grief, into a positive and life-affirming expression of art.

Marble cremation urns have the strength of stone and are highly regarded for their durability. Because of its beauty, permanence, and elegance, natural marble is a popular choice for many families. In addition, marble urns are produced with high-quality genuine marble from some of the finest quarries throughout the world. Greek and Roman sculptors and architects preferred marble for its beautiful spectrum of dramatic colors and veining patterns which distinguish onyx, alabaster, teakwood and fossil marbles; thus making this natural material very unique.

Earth Sculpture

The story of this strange land sculpture garden is almost as unusual as earth art found within it. The Lost Gardens of Heligan were once overgrown and forgotten but after an ongoing restoration project, the gardens are now one of the most popular botanical gardens in the UK.

Cremation Urns for the Seasons of Life

September 1, 2010 urngarden.com

It’s dry here and the leaves are fading and dropping off the trees. Rain is needed in the garden if we are going to have any color this fall. Urns for the upcoming season include our pretty maple leaf urn pendant than can be mounted on either a chain or bracelet as a keepsake.

The Legends of the Fall cremation urn is a work of art, fusing metal and baked enamel to create a vision of strength and beauty for the season. Cloisonne is a popular option for families that want an urn that blends into the home decor and doesn’t look like a funeral parlor. Drenched in pretty reds, golds, and flame orange colors of the fall season, this vase can also be engraved.

Rocks in the Garden: Orange Alabaster Cremation Urn

carved alabaster

We love the orange alabaster stone for carving. Softer than marble, the beautiful brilliant orange stone is rare in the mineral kingdom. Alabaster forms close to the earth’s surface and is quarried all over the world, including the United States.
