The compartment that will contain the ashes, after i close it will it be sealed so water cannot get in?

Pendant loads from the top, near the bale. Unscrews to reveal compartment. Secure threaded closure, and if desired you can add a drop of glue to the thread before screwing the lid down as an added measure of protection.
