YouTomb Where Videos Go To Die

July 19, 2008 urngarden.com

vidstone

YouTomb is a research project by MIT Free Culture, a student organization at MIT, that tracks videos taken down from YouTube for alleged copyright violation.

YouTomb continually monitors the most popular videos on YouTube for copyright-related takedowns. Any information available in the metadata is retained, including who issued the complaint and how long the video was up before takedown.

The videos are not available for viewing, the goal of the project is to identify how YouTube recognizes potential copyright violations as well as to aggregate mistakes made by the algorithm.

Mullet Sweet Mullet

mullet

The other night at the ballpark, I found another sweet mullet cut to add to my collection.  For the record!  I do love a well-done mullet, or as we called them in the ’80’s a “Bi-Level”.

I think I may have had the bi-level coiff for my senior picture….I remember that they were in style at the time, and I wanted one badly.  Mother would not allow it, so I had the neighbor across the street cut it.  Loved it!

We Are All Related

tattoo

This tatt caught my eye yesterday. Always full of questions, I asked the owner “Is that the tree of life? Are the words Hawaiian?”

Lakota was the language. The imagery represented Mother Earth, and Father Sky. The translation is:

Makpiyah Ate: Father Sky

Yuoniha: Honor

Ina Maka Yukka: Mother Earth Awaken

Wowicakl: Truth

The other arm translates to:

Found Art: The Memory Tree

memory branch

Earlier this Spring, my sweet Etta was fixated on finding just the right branch to create a tree sculpture on her deck. She knew what she wanted, but couldn’t verbalize it. My mother finally drug the perfect stick home and Etta went to work.

This is what she created. This is a bit of a departure for her, as she usually likes to spray paint everything gold.

Except for the scary clown on the jet ski, this tree makes me smile.
